lots of sound samples from various movies, both electronic beats and amazing drummer skills displayed, driving guitars, loud crazy awesome vocals. i really like ministry and most projects al jorgensen has anything to do with. me likey. industrial madness. i saw them live in denver this year, they made playing the music look effortless. this is some of their earlier stuff.
In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up, The Land of Rape and Honey and this album remain my favorite Ministry albums. The stuff done after this album is good, but not great and not something I care to listen to with any degree of frequency. This CD is classic industrial music with all the demented twists Al Jourgensen brings (Al is short for Alien, if that explains anything).The Cd is full of cutting metal sounding riffs but remains true to the industrial feel that Ministry has pioneered over the years. Ministry later beame a fully metal band and lost the industrial feel, and therefore, lost some of thier value to me, musically speaking.
Other highlights include the tracks "Never Believe," "Breathe," and "Test." If you're into Ministry, The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste is an essential CD to have. "Thieves," "Burning Inside," and "So What" are classic Ministry - among the best the band has ever done, and incredible songs.
It's so catchy and sounds like it would be played in a dance club (just like the OLDER Ministry material) Defintley one of my favorites off this album.8.Faith Collapsing-Creepy etheral piece. From thrash to rap to ambient, this album is possibly the best Industrial Album genre.Play-by-play for each song.1.Thieves-One of my top 10 favorite Ministry songs. If you like Industrial and haven't heard this album or dislike it, you don't know what Industrial is. Simple as that.
I hope I don't get persecuted for thinking it is better than Psalm 69 and The Land Of Rape And Honey. Nothing to mention.Though there are two "songs" I said were nothing special this album is a milestone in the Industrial album and in the 80's. Ministry's second or third offical C.D. (Don't know if With Sympathy counts) This C.D. Very fast and heavy. Catchy and what makes it great is the vocals are out of place.4.Cannibal Song-Slow and brooding.
Nothing to mention.9.Dream Song-Outro. Also, with a repetivie beat and odd vocals.5.Breathe-A very heavy opening drum beat which goes into a thundering beat then along with Al yelling "Breathe, Breathe." Very popular Ministry song.6.So What.-An excessive intro (almost two minutes) but is completely worth it. And perhaps one of the most memorable Ministry lyrics ever (I Only Kill To Know I'm Alive). Be prepared.7.Test-Why all the criticism on this song. The drums are absolutely perfect and so are the samples.2.Burning Inside-Shouldn've been the first song. Eight minutes long. is my absolute favorite Ministry C.D.
When the song kicks in, it maked you want to jump and yell "DIE.". Which is taken over by Al's Vocals and has the very catchy chorus which makes everyone want to sing to it.3.Never Believe-For some reason, this song makes me think that Trent Reznor was listening to this album too much when he made The Downward Spiral or Broken. But this is so original and very diverse. Opens with an intro, then into a very technical beat.
It is no-doubt the very best track on this disc. Check out So What. You won't be disappointed. These guys are totally awesome. This is like the best album to have if you love industrial rock.
